I've had the best luck with bearings. Some of you haven't and your yoyos become responsive. Here is my work in progress master work on yo yo bearings:

1. Look at it. Take off the shields and look at it. Is there something in there? Especially if you have pets. Look at it. Grasp the center race and slowly roll the outer race? The tactile sensation will tell you a lot. I can't tell you what it says, because I'm not touching it. Your nerves and brain likely will.

Between removing the bearing from the solvent to lubing, feel free to give the bearing a blast or two or three of compressed air.
